A black Mercedes convertible, with the driver dead at the wheel, turned a calm, gloriously cool morning at the beach into a somber scene Sunday.
The man was driving south on Seabreeze Boulevard, top down, when he collided with a forklift, at Poinsettia Street. The forklift had the vehicle’s long forks sticking out into oncoming traffic, witnesses said.
People rushed about frantically on their cellphones calling 911 and looking on helplessly. The driver was alone in the car.
